Cassy O'Connor MP
Cassy O'Connor was elected as the Tasmanian Greens Member for Denison on the 21st of July 2008, following the retirement of long serving Greens Member Peg Putt. Cassy is a former journalist and political advisor. She is also a passionate environmental activist especially on coastal issues, was also instrumental in the Save Ralph's Bay campaign, and is determined that community and conservation should come first in Tasmania. On 19 August 2008 Cassy became the first person to be sworn in as a Member of the Tasmanian Parliament outside Hobart. She made her inaugural speech on 20 August 2008.
