A Green voice for Sorrell Council

The Tasmanian Greens have launched the campaign of Sharon Prior for the Sorell Council elections. Sharon has nominated for two positions on Council, that of Councilor and Mayor.

With 5 years previous experience, Sharon will shift the focus back onto full and proper community consultation about the important issues in the Sorell Council area.  She will return the dialogue to the whole community. People who now feel some degree of disempowerment or disengagement from Council’s actions will feel that their voice is being heard once again.

Concerns from within the community with from issues with proposed council amalgamation to the issues surrounding Copping tip indicate the residents are being isolated from decisions that are impacting their community.

Sharon’s involvement within different facets of  the  community bring to her the knowledge of what is important in the Sorell region and an awareness of what is impacting on the day to day life of residents. To assist people, Sharon believes that new home builders get subsidies for installation of solar power and voltaic systems.

Families who have to defer buying groceries so as to buy tank loads of water because their existing water tanks are too old or too small, issues that impact on families. The experience and knowledge of what is important is what is again needed on Sorell Council.

“Green issues are very much to the core of people’s lives particularly in regional and semi rural areas Ms Prior said. “ I will provide much needed Leadership for this community”.
